It’s just a number,
It doesn’t define you.
It doesn’t tell your story,
It doesn’t speak to what you’ve done.
It doesn’t showcase your children,
It doesn’t celebrate with friends.
It doesn’t toast birthdays,
It doesn’t enjoy long quiet evenings, snuggled up on the
couch.
It’s just a number.
So why is it so important?
Why does it change how we feel about ourselves?
How we feel about others?
Why is it so hard to look at that number steadily climb as
the grey hairs come in and the wrinkles form?
It’s just a number, but it matters so much.
In a world full of judgement and hate,
Where we constantly find ourselves alone,
Is it really any wonder that it’s not just a number?
